We’re just finishing fig season as we move into winter so fresh figs are abundant, ripe and well priced. This smoothie is like a Turkish sweet store in a smoothie. Imagine a combination of Turkish delight and baklava! Mmmmm. There is just a hint of rose flavour from the rose water so even those who aren’t usually rose or Turkish delight fans will like this drink. Nutritionally speaking this smoothie is full of minerals, fibre and good omega 3 fats from the fruit and nuts. If you want to increase the protein in this recipe just add a couple of spoons of Greek yoghurt or a spoon of almonds or cashews.
1 fresh fig (or dried if they’re out of season)
5 raw walnuts
1 teaspoon raw honey
½ teaspoon rose water
1 cup milk of choice
Extra fig, walnut and edible rose petals to garnish (optional)
